Since I had a history of menstruation and anemia problems, my doctor was able to get my laparoscopy and hysterectomy paid for by my insurance. She said the insurance company would want me to have to a laparoscopy first to look for endometriosis. Then, if I did have endometriosis, the insurance company would probably pay for a hysterectomy, and if I didn't have it, she would try to push it through them anyway. The portion insurance paid (80% of total) is listed in green, and the out of pocket portion is listed in red.

I applied for patient financial assistance through the hospital. At the time I applied, I owed the hospital approximately $1,830.00 in out of pocket expenses. Based on my income, in May 2004 I was granted full dismissal of all these charges.

- $11,262.60 paid for by insurance
- $2,614.09 paid out of pocket (a portion of this was forgiven by the hospital)
